Empowering Change through Experience, Creativity, and Passion.
Meet Ben Goerner, a retired mental health and substance use clinician with over 32 years of experience. Ben is a dedicated advocate for regulating the treatment of substance use and ending the war on drugs. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work and has spent his career working with at-risk youth, disenfranchised individuals, and some of society’s most elite members.
Ben is no stranger to the challenges of substance use, as he has his own lived experience and is currently on a journey of recovery and healing. In his retirement, Ben has channeled his passion for advocacy into writing insightful blogs and creating music that reflects his experiences. As a singer-songwriter, amateur recording engineer, and videographer, he enjoys collaborating with his brother and other like-minded individuals.
Throughout his life, Ben has faced numerous challenges, but has always managed to find a way forward. From a commune where he learned to be a peer counselor to his years as a musician, Ben’s resilience has been an inspiration. Today, he is happily married and a proud father, continuing his love for music and writing.
In sharing his story, Ben hopes to empower others on their own journeys, offering a unique perspective that combines professional expertise with personal experience. His commitment to providing accurate information and heartfelt support makes him a trusted voice in the ongoing fight for change. Ben’s story is about more than just his own experiences; it is about the universal human journey and the power of hope and possibility.
Ever since I can remember, music has been an essential part of my life. The melodies, rhythms, and lyrics have always been a source of comfort, inspiration, and connection for me. Whether I’m playing an instrument or listening to a favorite song, music has a way of speaking to my soul, transcending words and expressing emotions in a way that’s both powerful and healing.
As a singer-songwriter, I’ve found that my passion for music has become a means of sharing my experiences and connecting with others on a deeper level. Music has provided me with an outlet for creativity, a space where I can express myself without reservation and share my journey through life.
My love for music is intricately woven into my advocacy work. Through my songs, I am able to shed light on the challenges and triumphs associated with mental health and substance use. By creating music that reflects my own personal experiences and those of the people I’ve worked with, I hope to raise awareness, inspire hope, and spark meaningful conversations around these critical issues.
For me, music is more than just a hobby or pastime – it’s a way of life. It has become a means of expressing my deepest thoughts, emotions, and experiences, and it serves as a powerful reminder of the incredible resilience and beauty of the human spirit. Through my music, I hope to touch the hearts and minds of others, inspiring them to embrace their own journeys and find healing, hope, and connection in the melodies of life.
